Ah have not done a straight forward study fro a photo in a long time.  This was quite a challenge.  I did not set a time limit.  It took probably 3 hours or so.  The reference for this can be found on a site belonging to Richard Seaman. Ogham Stones

Beannachtaí Lá Fhéile Phádraig daoibh go léir!  Happy St Patricks Day to all.   

These are ogham stones.  These ancient stones carry words in the form of markings scored into their edges.  The scored patterns are an alphabet.  They are found all over Ireland.  They are not usually in a circle.  The circular mounds sometimes marked with stones are referred to as fairy forts in folklore and are considered magical.  In truth they are the remains of ring forts.

Another few sketches.  Not so many of these this week as they took a backseat.  I am in the middle of some job hunting.   I had some job interviews last week so I had to swot for them.   As these sketches are the last thing I do in the evening before I turn in I find them a good wind down exercise but I just simply had no time - I missed out on them.  The job hunting goes on so it will probably continue to take my attention from this work.
