For a change I started this image out with a line drawing working out most of the details. Then value.  The image below is where I was at before I went in with colour.    I changed some of the poses a bit later on.

This was the next lesson of Suzanne Helmighs  following on from the skulls. To be honest I would need a lot more practice at this but I can see how this would be really useful.

Have not done an oil painting in a long while.  This was in response to a deep pang of guilt.  I bought a pochade last year.  It was the worst Summer in years with no chance of getting out and trying it out.  This year the best Summer in years and the weather coincided with me moving house and starting new job. This was a photo I took just before I moved.

This guy was a triumph of patience.  Doodled a bit, got about half way and just struggled to figure out how to continue.  Really tempted to stop and move on to something else, but as ever, if I feel I am struggling there is something to be learned so I kept with it.
