Shipyard at the Edge

Shipyard at the Edge
Worked on this one for a while.  Started off with a figure and then dropped in the environment.  Had some fun with the textures which I think is a first for me. Dropped some photo textures but these got painted out as the work progressed.

Lightning Speedpaint Study

Lightning Study
A lightening speedpaint study.  This one took under 1 hour.  The whole thing captured on Livestream.
Brushes should not matter but in this case I made full use of a cloud brush which did a lot of the heavy lifting on this piece.  Lightening was fiddly.  Reference was from here.

Room to be

Room to be
I spent a ridiculously long time messing around with this considering how rough it still looks.  In truth it is still some where in sketch limbo but I have ran out of steam on this one.  Will try again.

Summer dance-Speedpaint

Did a speedpaint from the DA group.  Did it over 3 sessions but don't think I spent more than the 2 hour allowance.  The stock was from Random-Acts-Stock.
Spent a while getting the pose down.  Offline I have started working on anatomy so I will probably focus on that for a while using Loomis and Bridgeman.

Two riders

Two riders
As promised after the last study I went ahead and tried to apply some of what I learned.  Changed up the lighting big time.  Anyway pushed everything as far as I could.  Sketched it out in grey scale then dropped in the colour.  You can see it drifted somewhat from the early sketch.

Skull Still Life Study

Skull Still Life Study
A study from life.  About 2 hours.  The skull is not an anatomically correct model.  It was a cheap prop I picked up at Halloween but good enough for the major forms.  Light was courtesy of my monitor.

After Cesare Auguste Detti-To the joust

After Cesare Auguste Detti- To the joust
This is a detail of the larger image To the joust  by Cesare Auguste Detti. I wanted to do this to force myself to work on the details.  Done a lot of smaller shorter works so a good change of pace. Now I am committed to doing a piece to apply some of what I picked up by doing this. Most of the action is captured on Livestream
