One That Got Away

One That Got Away
Worked on this the past few days. It sprung from the previous piece of work where I took a detail from it.

The next  thing was the pose then the rest followed.  The bird took a ridiculous amount of time- a couple of redesigns.

Bad Day for Tony

Bad Day for Tony

This image came from a portion of my last character study.

Worked on this for a while and it went through a few revisions. Seemed to have gained some things and lost some in the revisions.

Landscape after Konstantin Kryzhitsky- pt2

Landscape after Konstantin Kryzhitsky- pt2
Started this masters copy a while back during Christmas break - earlier post .  This is the progress.  I layed on all the background detail and painted in all  the foreground major details.  This was after about 4-5 hours work.  At this point the difficulties of painting the textures particularly the grass is becoming apparent- built using lots of layers it seems.  There is a lot of subtlety in the colour shifts in the original. The progress to this point was captured on livestream.

City in the Stars

City in the Stars
Time to do something a bit more detailed and involved.  This was definitely something to  practice some rendering.  It started out quite rough so it took a lot of discipline for me to stick with it.  Could have refined further perhaps but I will take what I have learned and apply to something else.

Landscape after Konstantin Kryzhitsky- pt1

Landscape after Konstantin Kryzhitsky- pt1
As  have had the luxury of some time off work I wanted to do some traditional work.  I decided to do a master copy in oils.  This is a landscape by Konstantin Kryzhitsky. I chose this as it looks like a serious technical challenge. I will figure it out as I go along I hope.  I have no idea how the original painting was put together.  I started out transferring the major features to canvas in pencil with the help of a grid.  It was recorded on Livestream.
