Soap bottle study

Soapbottle study
This is a study of a soap bottle I did on my lunch break. About 40 minutes effort.  Last still life was the parachute guy back at the start of June. I wanted to bring some of the work I am doing to a higher level of finish.  That has proven to take a lot of time and unfortunetly I have a liited amount of time available for this so in the past month studies have taken a back seat.

Portrait practice 4

Portrait Practice 4

Changed up my process on this one.  I used just a hard round brush and went to town.  Even though I kept the brush small I finished this in about 3 hours or so. Probably a shorter time than if I went to complete using some of the other approaches I have used.  The reference is from National Geographic a great resource.

Beast 1

Beast 1
I wanted to follow up the horse study with an application.  I had already done a character so I wanted to design a creature that would be in that world too. No fur so I model the muscle. I started off with the muscle study then put some flesh on it.   I suppose I concentrated a lot on the body.  I was going to go with a more canine face but ended up with a large cat type affair.

Écorché of a horse

Écorché de cheval
This is a copy of a muscle study of a  horse.  The study I found here.  I am going to take this and put it in a study to follow.

Orc - Game On!

orc character concept play

This just popped out of nowhere.  To be honest I had some time off and decided to do a piece and finish to as polished a level as I could achieve with an eye towards building a portfolio. I worked on the first piece for about a day.  At the end of that I just took a break to doodle.   If was a value piece.

The next day I continued working on it and got it finished in a surprising short time. It was a real texture fest.  This is a real step up for me, which is great but now the bar is higher...............

Tank engine study

Tank engine study

Still working on mechanics.  This was a study I did mostly as an exercise in patience.  It was just about observation and modelling.  I could have continued to refine but i think I got what I needed from it.  This is a photo of a tank engine.  Massive.

Big Bear Game Art

I started creating a series of promotional art for a ficticious game.  This was to practice going through the design process.  I have foun...
