Fighters

Fighters

This started life as the exercise below which was some figure drawing practice.  I attempted to take it a little further then realised how hard it would be for me .  Left for a few weeks then went back and resolved to finish it in some way.  It was difficult and a real stretch but I have found that that has been the best way for me to learn so I got to be prepared to fail.  I like the colours in this and some of the treatments but this really brings home how much I have to learn.

Horned Lizard-study

Horned Lizard
Ah have not done a straight forward study fro a photo in a long time.  This was quite a challenge.  I did not set a time limit.  It took probably 3 hours or so.  The reference for this can be found on a site belonging to Richard Seaman. There are lots of other great lizard photos there so check them out.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

Ogham Stones
Ogham Stones
Beannachtaí Lá Fhéile Phádraig daoibh go léir!  Happy St Patricks Day to all.

These are ogham stones.  These ancient stones carry words in the form of markings scored into their edges.  The scored patterns are an alphabet.  They are found all over Ireland.  They are not usually in a circle.  The circular mounds sometimes marked with stones are referred to as fairy forts in folklore and are considered magical.  In truth they are the remains of ring forts.

Sketches 21

sketches Avatar

Another few sketches.  Not so many of these this week as they took a backseat.  I am in the middle of some job hunting.   I had some job interviews last week so I had to swot for them.   As these sketches are the last thing I do in the evening before I turn in I find them a good wind down exercise but I just simply had no time - I missed out on them.  The job hunting goes on so it will probably continue to take my attention from this work.

Colourisation -Zombie Hunter

Colourisation -Zombie Hunter

Saw this piece on  a CG Hub challenge I think  .  There was an invitation to colourise by the inker Haruk79.  They have a site on Deviant Art. Check out their work!

I have tried to do one or two of these before and they require a whole other process so good practice.

Trekking 2
Could not resist adding a little bit of motion to this.  It was my first time working with the animation part of Photoshop.  Its a bit clumsy but was just checking out what was possible.  The final still image is here.

Trekking
I took some time with this. It started off as a quick painting then developed. The mule/goat I completed very quickly then struggled with the guy for a while. This was fun to do and I did spend some time fooling around with stuff. My favorite bit is still that goat with attitude.

A speedpaint of a foot of  2 hours effort.  Most of that was tickling those toes.  I don't think i nailed it but it was a sole effort.  The stock was from hannah-boaden  here

Study of The Gramaphone

Study of The Gramaphone

I did this photograph study to help with an image I am working on.  Did not labour to make an exact copy. The photo is from the library of congress collection which has some amazing and sometimes unexpected collections of images. Do you think this guy had heard recorded music before?
